PUBLIC DISCUSSION: Control vs. freedom


During the international seminar Community work(s) we would held also public panel discussion on 23 June 2016 in Bratislava at A4 – priestor súčasnej kultúry including:

  • Dr. Brian Belton, senior lecturer on YMCA George Williams College and our main speaker and facilitator at the seminar
  • Mgr. Peter Lenčo, PhD, director for National Cooperation Department, Iuventa – Slovak Youth Institute
  • Representative of Slovak Youth Council (tbc)
  • Representatives of major youth organizations (tbc)


16:00     Introduction of the theme, discussion panel 
16:15     Discussion: guests presenting their opinions and point of view on the main questions + raising new questions for the debate / discussion:

  • what is the context of youth work in UK / in Slovakia
  • who wants / needs control? who wants / needs freedom?
  • how does financing influence the form and quality of youth work?
  • what would be the best model of cooperation between public, state and NGOs working with youth with the best positive impact on youth?
